Programme Details

[Cancelled] The Darius Brubeck Quartet

In view of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the resultant closures of venues across the city, and concerns for the health and safety of participating artists and audiences, the Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) has made the difficult decision to cancel the February and March performances of the 48th HKAF. All Young Friends (YFS) programmes and outreach activities within the above period, including in-school pre-performance workshops, will also be cancelled. Arrangements for YFS membership will be announced soon by email. For general enquiries, please email to afyfs@hkaf.org.

Dave Brubeck’s son celebrates his father’s centenary year

ABOUT

“This band never fails to delight... Majestic” Jazz Journal

Perhaps best known for hits like Take Five and Blue Rondo à la Turk from his album Time Out, the legendary jazz giant and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Dave Brubeck is iconic for his innovation in the West Coast jazz movement.

Paying tribute to his father’s music in the jazz master’s centenary year, pianist and composer Darius Brubeck teams up with saxophonist Dave O’Higgins, bassist Matt Ridley and drummer Wesley Gibbens for their Hong Kong debut, after critically acclaimed international tours and sold-out shows at major jazz houses in London. Their first concert at City Hall features ever-popular Dave Brubeck hits and original tunes by Darius. Their second concert at the Fringe Club features two sets of South African jazz and jazz standards—an evening to chill out with the best jazz tunes and, of course, a drink (or more)!
