Lasso’sLagrime di San Pietro
Conductor: Jenny Wong

In view of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the resultant closures of venues across the city, and concerns for the health and safety of participating artists and audiences, the Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) has made the difficult decision to cancel the February and March performances of the 48th HKAF. All Young Friends (YFS) programmes and outreach activities within the above period, including in-school pre-performance workshops, will also be cancelled. Arrangements for YFS membership will be announced soon by email. For general enquiries, please email to

“Many in the audience, I am sure, will never hear Renaissance music or polyphony the same way again.” Classical Voice

“Lagrime is a major accomplishment for the Master Chorale, which sang and acted brilliantly. It is also a major accomplishment for music history.” Los Angeles Times

“This Lagrime was theatrically, poetically, and musically gripping, delving into the work’s emotionality with unabashed commitment.” San Francisco Classical Voice

The illustrious American theatre and opera director Peter Sellars stages this production of the final work of Renaissance polyphony master, Orlando di Lasso. This set of madrigals depicts the seven stages of grief Peter feels after denying knowledge of Jesus Christ on the day of his arrest. Intensely moving.
